Worldly good deeds lead to temporary results, not God-realization, which requires God's grace through Sharanagati (surrender). Philosophically, if God is causelessly merciful, why demand surrender? The secret is: Sharanagati means "doing nothing" of one's own self-effort, relying completely on God. When the soul feels sadhan heena (without strength), God takes full responsibility. Draupadi's example illustrates this: her complete surrender, after all self-supports failed, invoked immediate divine intervention. True surrender is an internal state, giving up the pride of doership while externally continuing sadhana
